HIMMAT recognizes the importance of a survivor’s privacy. We are aware of the leap of faith it takes to trust us with such vulnerable experiences and therefore, we are committed to maintaining robust privacy protections for our users.

Our Privacy Policy is designed to help you understand how we collect, use and safeguard the information you provide to us and to assist you in making informed decisions when using our Service. Therefore, we strongly urge you to read this policy and make sure you fully understand it, before you access or use any of our services. 

PRIVACY POLICY

For purposes of this Agreement, “Service” refers to the Service Provider’s free legal consultancy and related services which can be accessed via our website www.safecollegespaces.com, or any child domain therein. “Legal Consultancy” refers to the services provided by our team of lawyers, activists, experts and practitioners through official email communication. The terms “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the Service Provider. “You” refers to you, as a user of our service. By accessing or using our Service, you consent to the information collection, disclosure and use practices as described in this Privacy Policy.

Capitalized terms which are not defined herein shall have the meaning ascribed to them in our Terms and Conditions.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

There are two types of information provided by the user namely “Non-Personal Information” and “Personal Information.”

Non-Personal Information includes information that cannot be used to personally identify you, and is collected through technology such as anonymous usage data, general demographic information, referring/exit pages and URLs, platform types, the type of browser you use, the device from which you connected to the Service, the time and date of access, and other information that is incapable of uniquely identifying you. Personal Information includes your email, the name of your institution and other personal details pertaining to your experience voluntarily shared by you including the specific details related to your query and any evidence supporting your claim or response to a claim which you submit to us through the email id provided on the website.

HOW WE USE AND SHARE INFORMATION

Personal Information

Except as otherwise stated in this Privacy Policy or elsewhere on our platform, Site, or terms and conditions, we do not sell, trade, rent or otherwise share for marketing purposes your Personal Information with third parties in any manner whatsoever.

In general, the Personal Information you provide to us is used to help us communicate with you, answer your queries, process your case, and to provide you legal consultancy from our team of professionals. We also use Personal Information to contact users in response to questions, solicit feedback from users and provide technical support.

Non-Personal Information

HIMMAT is hosted on the Wix.com platform. Wix.com provides us with an online platform that allows us to enable you to avail our services. Your non-personal data may be stored through Wix.com’s data storage, databases and the general Wix.com applications. Wix strictly abides by data protection laws and best practices and stores your data on secure servers behind a firewall. The manner in which they protect such data is provided in detail in their Privacy Policy available here.

While HIMMAT may allow for the collection of such non-personal information by Wix, it does not authorize its use or disclosure to third parties in any manner other than that which is stated in their Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

HOW WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION

We implement layers of security measures designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access. To avail our legal consultancy services, you need to provide certain personal details through a downloadable form. Wherever possible we encourage you to use hypothetical names and places (save for certain mandatory information as will be indicated in the form) in order to preserve your privacy. At no point of time is any personal information collected and stored by the website itself.

The form carrying personal information is to be mailed to a secure email id provided on our website. Thereafter, the legal consultancy service is rendered through email communication. All email communication is protected from third party intervention as per the policy of gmail which can be found here.

The content of your communications with our team of professionals will not be disclosed to third parties under any circumstances. We treat all information provided by you in pursuance of availing our consultancy services as strictly confidential. While we take the utmost care in protecting your information, these measures do not guarantee that your information will not be accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed through computer virus, unauthorized access, malicious attack or any other activity which cannot be solely attributable to HIMMAT. By using our Service, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to assume these risks.

LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES

As part of the Service, we may provide links to or compatibility with other websites or applications. However, we are not responsible for the privacy practices employed by those websites or the information or content they contain. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected by us through the Site and the Service. Therefore, this Privacy Policy does not apply to your use of a third-party website accessed by selecting a link on our Site or via our Service. To the extent that you access or use the Service through or on another website or application, then the privacy policy of that other website or application will apply to your access or use of that site or application. CHANGES TO OUR PRIVACY POLICY

We can amend this Privacy Policy at any time and will update the Privacy Policy in the event of any such amendments. It is your sole responsibility to check the Site from time to time to view any such changes in the Policy. If you continue to use the Site, you signify your agreement to our revisions to this Privacy Policy. However, we will notify you of material changes to the Policy by posting a notice on our homepage.

Any changes to this Policy (other than as set forth in this paragraph) or waiver of the Service Provider’s rights hereunder shall not be valid or effective except in a written agreement bearing the physical signature of an officer of the Service Provider. No purported waiver or modification of this Policy by the Service Provider via telephonic or email communications shall be valid.
